FAQs
Is my personal information secure?
Absolutely. Your sessions remain private, with video and audio accessible only to you and your physiotherapist. Notes from your consultations are safely stored in a government-compliant practice management system.
What do I need for an online consultation?
We use a browser-based platform, so there’s no need for downloads or installations. Just click the link in your appointment email to join the consult.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A stable internet connection
- A device with a microphone and speakers (most computers and tablets already have these built-in)
- A video camera (inbuilt or external webcam)
- Supported browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari
Using a tablet or smartphone allows you to easily move your camera around during consultation.
What if I don’t have a camera, microphone or speakers?
A camera, microphone and speakers are essential for communication, you will need these to undertake your consult.
What equipment do I need for my session?
At a minimum you will just need yourself and a little bit of space to move around in, however, some useful equipment to have available for your sessions includes:
- Yoga mat to lie on
- Pillow
- Chair
- Light Dumbbells
- Resistance Bands
How do I get the most out of my online session?
Try to find a quiet, well-lit space with enough room to move around comfortably. A tablet or smartphone can be especially useful, as it allows you to easily reposition your camera so we can see you clearly during movement and exercises.
Can I claim rebates through private health or Medicare?
Australian residents may be eligible for rebates if you have extras cover with private health insurance. Please confirm with your insurer. Consultations will need to be paid for in full prior to your appointment, after your appointment you will be provided with an invoice which you can then use to claim your rebate. Chronic Condition Management (CCM) plan service referrals are eligible for online consultations.
How does the follow up support work?
Follow up is conducted for a one-month period through Healthie, a secure messaging portal, that you can use to engage with your physiotherapist. This offers you the opportunity to discuss anything you are uncertain about and work with your physiotherapist to progress your exercise routine to support better overall recovery, all from the comfort of your home!
Can you assess my injury properly via online physiotherapy?
Yes! The vast majority of useful information about an injury or condition comes from the story you tell us. We’ll guide you by asking the right questions to understand your symptoms and concerns. Any physical testing we do as physiotherapists is used to confirm or rule out our working diagnosis—and we can perform those tests by instructing and observing you, without needing to be physically present.
What conditions can be treated with online physio?
Many conditions can be treated remotely. Sporting injuries, joint pain, muscle or ligament strains, post-surgical rehab, and even long-term issues like osteoarthritis can all be effectively managed online. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing back or neck pain, or working on improving your mobility, strength, or muscle function—online physio offers convenient, professional care from the comfort of your home. If you’re unsure whether your condition is suitable, feel free to get in touch.
